Oliver King - Director of Music

Oliver King is Organist and Director of Music at St Mary's and combines this post with a busy and varied career as a conductor, teacher, soloist, accompanist and adjudicator. Previously he held full time posts at Wellington College and at King William's College. In addition to his work at St Mary's Church, Oliver is currently on the staff of St Mary's School, Cambridge and Sawston Village College. Oliver studied at the Royal College of Music and at the Malmo Academy of Music. As a student, he also held the Michael James Organ Scholarship to the Royal Parish Church of St Martin-in-the-Fields. Adding a new dimension to his life, he has recently qualified as a Music Therapist, having undertaken MA training at Anglia Ruskin University.

In August he will again be a Director for the National Youth Music Camps, based at the Stables Theatre, Wavendon. In his spare time (such that it is) Oliver is a keen runner and also especially enjoys adapting repertoire for the free reed love of his life – his melodica!
